SONIC ODYSSEY 005
W. CAKES DA KILLA,
IAMNOTMYHISTORY
& G L O W Z I  Saturday, November 7th 2026
10:00pm to 4:00am
at Le Système (7119 Rue St-Hubert)

sonic odyssey, def.: a musical offering / adventure during which multiple sonic weavers (DJs, live acts) get together to co-pilot a sonic aircraft (a moment where dancers and music lovers alike waltz together).

for the fifth voyage of my sonic odyssey series, I am elated to welcome a first live act - the brilliant Cakes da Killa - as well as my favourite sonic co-pilot / co-conspirator IAMNOTMYHISTORY once again.

Cakes da Killa doesn’t ask for a seat at the table. he builds his own room, then charges cover. for more than a decade, the New York rapper has carved out a world entirely his own - where razor-sharp bars collide with house, hip hop and the pulse of the underground. armed with rapid-fire flow, wicked humor and undeniable presence, Cakes has built a career on refusing to be boxed in.

an amazing sonic *and fashion connoisseur, and a dear friend, IAMNOTMYHISTORY is a Montréal-based DJ, curator, and archivist whose practice explores the intersections of sound, image, memory, and emotion. through carefully constructed sonic narratives, she creates immersive environments that move fluidly across genres, geographies, and eras, transforming the dancefloor into a site of discovery, connection, and collective storytelling.

having gotten the chance to witness and bask into both artists’ brilliance throughout the years, I can assure you that this night will be a delightful one, oozing of niggarific soundscapes, as always!

G L O W Z I (she/they), born gloria-sherryl françois, is an archivist and interdisciplinary artist whose work reaches through time and space.

Born in Tiotià:ke/Mooniyang (Montreal) to Ayisyen immigrants, G L O W Z I has spent their life immersed in Ayiti’s diasporic culture as they developed an imaginative language and archival practice – a space for multi-media explorations of kindred sounds, scenes and textures.

An ancestor in training, the kinships and Black feminist ethos that shape their daily life are evident in all that they create. From art direction to painting to graphic design to vinyl mixing to original music production, to witness G L O W Z I’s work is to be transported to a place of connection, finding yourself held by the lineage that holds them.
